John 15:13!

John 15:13 says this: Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
This to me is such a amazing verse. It has a command, a action, and it talks about love. I really kind of just want to talk about part b. That he lay down his life for his friends. Wow. My whole life i thought it meant that i should be willing to die for my friend. And don't get me wrong i think that is does say that. But i also think it says a whole lot more. I think that the term "lay down his life" can be seen in different ways. I think sometimes it just means talking to a visitor at church. Helping the elderly when you know you could be getting your nails done. Sitting by a kid at school or Sunday school that is not really accepted. Lately I've been think a lot about accepting people. I've wondered do I really do it often enough. Just because the visitors a boy does that mean i can't just say hi? Why don't we? Why do we leave the greeting to someone else? Jesus was a friend to the outcasts. We need to follow His example. Jesus loved us enough to leave a perfect heaven to come to a broken world. Are we willing to lay down our life, our time, our money(in some cases) to help others. I encourage you to take this Bible verse to heart.

Hurry Shepherds Run.

Hurry Shepherds run to the manger, leave your sheep and come. This is a line from the Christmas song, Hurry Shepherds Run. When you think about it, to a shepherd his herd is his most prized possession. The question is would you and I be willing to leave our most prized possession and go see a baby? Leaving our things wide open to the public; where anyone could take it? I know I would be hesitant. Matthew 6:19 talks about how we should store up our treasures in heaven. I think the shepherds are a great role models for us; they left to follow the angels. They had great faith. Do we store up our treasures on earth; or do we take a leap of faith and wait to see what the Lord has for us.

I love snow! Its fluffy and white and usually clean. If you don't like snow, I feel very sorry for you! When I think of snow I think of how much God cares for the little things as well as the big things. All the snowflakes are different, special, and unique. Just like people, we are also uniquely created, we are made in the very image of God. The song says, Red, and Yellow, Black, and White, they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world! In Matt.6:26 it talks about how Jesus cares for Birds, and then it asks a question; Are we not more valuable then the Birds? And the answer is clear! Jesus cares so much about us, he was willing to come down to earth, die on a cross for you and conquer death! He must care for us! He wants us to spend eternity with Him! Is there any better news in the world? I think not! So when you watch the snow, think about how much He cares for you.
